Virus Submission Instructions

If you are directed by a VCOM Software Support Technician to submit a suspicious file, do the following:

1. Never email the file suspected of being infected, always isolate it to a non-bootable diskette. The ideal diskette should be new, never used and pre-formatted.  De-activate Real-Time virus scanning and then copy the file to the diskette.

2. Document your attack.  Here is the information you should include:

  • How we can contact you (address, phone, email, fax).
  • The operating system you are running (e.g. Windows Me, Windows XP, etc.).
  • How you became aware that you had a virus (a message, data loss, an anti-virus program report (which one?).

3. Send the diskette to:
