for instructions on making these floppies if you do not already

| |
Assumption |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
DOS
or Windows 95/98/Me and System Commander installed |
| |
At
least 200 MB of contiguous free space within the first 2GB of
the hard drive. (Free space is space unassigned to any partition.)
If you are not sure, do the following: 1) Run Fdisk from the
floppy or hard drive. 2) Select option number 4 - Display partition
information. 3) If the sum usage column is less than 100%, you
have unallocated disk space. |
| |
A
free partition slot for a Primary Partition (e.g. No more than
3 existing primaries or no more than 2 primaries and 1 extended
before you begin the NT installation). |
| |
Note:
Only follow this procedure if the partition where Windows NT
is to reside is within the 2GB boundary on the hard drive. |

Procedure |
| |
|
| |
|
| 1 |
Run
SCDISK from the SC directory (or where System Commander files
are located). |
| 2 |
Select
Change Boot Status for OS install. |
| 3 |
Enter
the number 9.( This will hide all other Primary Partitions so
NT cannot write to them.) |
| 4 |
Press
ESC. This will give you a Boot Status Changed message. Press
ENTER for OK,then press ESC once more which should place you
at a DOS prompt. |
| 5 |
Place the first NT installation disk in the A: drive and reboot
the computer (Ctrl+Alt+Del). |
| 6 |
Follow
the NT installation prompts from here. The NT installation will
use the unallocated space to create a Primary Partition (either
FAT or NTFS, your choice). |
| 7 |
NT's
install forces multiple reboots. On the first NT reboot you
will have a new Windows NT selection. Highlight this selection
and choose ALT-S for the setup menu. Highlight and select Local
Special Options. Choose Primary Partitions Visible On Drive
0 and set this to NONE. |
| 8 |
ESC
back to the main System Commander menu. Choose the new NT choice
and this will continue the NT install. If the machine reboots
after this, simply choose the NT selection from the System Commander
menu to continue the installation. |
| |
End
of procedure. |
