Issue:
Roxio's EZ CD Creator (including v5) has a bug that under Windows
XP, will make older versions of CD Anywhere (and other products)
hang and appear to be improperly installed.
Solution:
Please install the maintenace
update v2.04 or later. We have made a change to the design to
prevent the EZ CD Creator program under XP from failing. Click here
for the related Roxio
faq. It appears that EZ CD Creator uses too small a buffer that
does not allow more than a few CD drives at a time.
If you experienced
a failed installation of CD Anywhere with XP, the new installation
could possibly to complain about CD Anywhere already installed (even
if you tried to remove it). In this case, please perform following
actions to manually remove CD Anywhere.
First, uninstall
CD Anywhere, then go to Device Manager (right click 'My Computer',
choose 'Manager', select 'Device Manager') and uninstall all extra
devices of following types:
| |
'Other
devices -> Unknown devices',
'SCSI controllers -> SCSI/RAID Host controller',
'SCSI controllers -> CD Anywhere virtual SCSI controller'
(the extra item means you don't have appropriate physical device) |
Then, delete
program group and product installation directory (usually C:\Program
Files\V Communications\CD Anywhere). Delete the following files
(assuming Windows XP is installed in the C:\Windows folder):
| |
C:\Windows\cdshell.dll
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\cdiport.sys
C:\Windows\system32\drivers\cdidrv.sys |
Run the Registry
Editor (regedit.exe) and delete following keys:
| |
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\current
version\App Paths\cdawman.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\current version\Uninstall\{#####-######-#####-#####} |
Here
####-#####-####-#### is particular subkey, which contains reference
to 'CD Anywhere'
program. You will need to click on each key and look at the name
and data in the right pane. You have the right key when "DisplayName" is
CD Anywhere.
