announced that PowerDesk Pro 6, a powerful new version of its
award winning and industry leading file management utility, is
now available on the web and at selected retailers across the
country. PowerDesk combines a wide range of desired utilities
and tools into a single easy-to-use application. It completely
replaces Windows Explorer, giving users the ability to perform
advanced search, sort, view, copy, delete and rename. Many advanced
operations in PowerDesk Pro are not even possible with Explorer.
In addition, PowerDesk Pro includes a full file synchronization
utility, integrated FTP, support for most compression formats,
a file space manager, MP3 Playlist editor and a unique open/save
dialog helper.

New and enhanced features in PowerDesk Pro 6 include:

Enhanced Sync Manager – PowerDesk Pro 6 compares and synchronizes
the contents of two folders and, if desired, subfolders. Synchronization
can be pre-filtered, selected for one-way or two-way synchronization,
including duplicate, copy newer, copy older, move newer or move
older. In addition, it automatically saves synchronization history,
so users can quickly locate and repeat prior tasks that were performed.
- Enhanced
Preview – PowerDesk
Pro 6 includes built-in viewer support for over 150 file formats.
Quickly view selected
files in a preview pane without having to open the file first.
Preview works with most graphic formats, most office formats, PDFs,
and much more. Users can also view directories in thumbnail mode,
which is great for viewing digital camera photos and other graphics.
- Multiple
Undo – After performing operations such as copy,
delete, and move, it only takes a single click to undo what was
done! This includes undoing group deletes and more!
- Updated
UI – Now PowerDesk Pro sports an updated
XP style user-interface with new, easier to read toolbars. In addition,
it includes Startdock’s fully skinable environment. Multiple
skins are included, or users can go to popular third party web
sites and select from thousands of additional skins. Another new
feature is the ability to change keyboard shortcuts.

compression formats handled – PowerDesk
Pro 6 doubles its already strong file compression handling from
16
formats to 32. Now users can easily compress and expand files from
all popular compression formats. PowerDesk also allows users to
see within many archives to see the entire list of files and selectively
view the contents or extract with a simple drag and drop operation.
Supported compression types include .arc, .ark, .arj, .as, .bin,
.btoa, .bz2, .cab, .compact, .cpt, .dwc, .freeze, .gz, .hqx, .jar,
.lha, .lzh, .mime, .pak, .pf, .rar, .sit, .sitx, .sco, .tar, .taz,
.tgz, .uu, .ync, .z, .zip, .zoo.
- New
Layout Manager – PowerDesk
Pro can save a current layout to a chosen icon. With one click,
the
layout is restored,
including its multiple pane view, selected folders, filters and
other options previously used. Users can save any number of layouts
to save time and increase productivity.
PowerDesk
Pro 6 is compatible with Windows 98/Me/NT4/2000/XP/2003 and is
expected to be street priced at $49.99. For PowerDesk Pro
5 users, an upgrade is available for $24.99. More information is
