San Jose,
CA - V Communications, a leading developer and publisher of
advanced software utilities, announced today that CD Anywhere -
Network Edition, a program that both creates multiple CD Anywhere
software drives and saves CD images to a hard disk, is now available
direct from V Communications. Users can save CD audio, programs,
data, games and DVDs to a compressed image stored on the local or
network hard disks. With the Network Edition, multiple users can
now access individual images stored in a central location. CD Anywhere
is currently available in a personal version, as well, with OEM
versions for PC and laptop manufacturers available upon request.
"CD Anywhere
solves the problem, especially for smaller organizations, of having
to juggle CDs around or even having to find them when you need them,"
said Frank van Gilluwe, V Communications' president. "By using
this product, images of CDs and DVDs are created and then accessed
throughout the organization. Organizations do not have to buy, create
or continually upgrade expensive hardware CD jukeboxes. CD Anywhere
Network Edition allows the organization to use an existing low end
machine as a CD server. In this way, CD Anywhere can save the organization
money and help it keep its CD applications and data fully accessible
across the enterprise, yet secure from loss or theft," concluded
van Gilluwe.
For audio applications,
CD Anywhere makes images of audio CDs. Users can select tracks to
save, and specify the type of compression to use. The created images
can be changed at any time, including the removal or addition of
audio tracks. For programs, such as an office suite, Windows, or
other CD programs that require access to the CD even after installation,
the CD Anywhere image eliminates the hassles and delay of finding
and reinstalling these CDs. Once a compressed image is made, and
loaded into any one of CD Anywhere's drives, the system sees the
CD image as a physical CD. Users can simply look to the network
for an image,
assign it to a virtual drive and then access the image as they would
any normal CDROM. With CD Anywhere the user can have up to 23 virtual
CDROM drives! There is no limit to the number of images that can
be made available to CD Anywhere users within the organization.
CD Anywhere's
minimum configuration is a Pentium or better and it requires 16
MB RAM. CD Anywhere Network Edition works with Windows 95B/98/Me/NT/2000/XP
Server and Workstation. CD Anywhere supports most standard CD formats,
including data formats such as ISO9660, Audio (CDDA, MP3), VCD,
data DVDs, mixed mode CDs, and multi-session CDs. The physical product
ships with Windows Media Player 7.1, Windows Media Encoder 7.1 and
Real Player/Jukebox 8. Users can purchase CD Anywhere Network Edition,
5 user, for $159.95, for physical product or download the electronic
version from our website for $129.95. Users can also add additional
licenses at any time.
